a continuation of my previous vent due to text limit: my interview has been cancelled because one of the interviewers would be my cousin. she told my dad who had been texting her to keep her updated on my job app. also, the recruiter said she'd get back to me but basically vanished for the whole day. i guess she talked to my cousin. my parents are STILL mad at me for being "too honest" and even got mad at the recruiter simply for asking if i knew anyone at the company, aka she was just doing her damn job. is it not standard policy to avoid having someone in direct management of a family member??? or to be part of their hiring process??? my parents dismissed my explanations. even my cousin sounded disappointed that i told the recruiter about us being family members. why are you all mad at me when it would have likely gotten us in trouble??? i prefer no interview at all than potentially getting hired and then fired or punished for not disclosing important information.
