feeling upset because i lost a job opportunity today and i'm not sure if i did the right thing or wrong thing. i applied earlier this week, and the recruiter got back to me this morning. she did a quick qna, asking if i knew anyone at the company. i said my mom works there. then the recruiter said the department i'd work at would have a manager, who is also my cousin. the call ends without me remembering to tell her this, because it's my first job-related call ever and my nerves are all over the place. the recruiter schedules an interview and sends me an email confirming that. i see my cousin is one of the interviewers, so i immediately email the recruiter about my cousin, but now my parents are mad at me for being "too honest", even when i explained stuff like conflict of interest and how she'd be my direct supervisor. they keep bringing up how i didn't need to tell her that when i am pretty sure i have to, because she's ON THE INTERVIEWING PANEL. was i really wrong for speaking up???
