1. What Data We Collect

Rant Content

When you post a rant, we store the content text and category. We temporarily log IP addresses for rate limiting and spam prevention. We do not collect names, emails, or any identifying information for regular platform use.

Leave a Note Payments

When you use the "Leave a Note" paid feature, payment is processed by Stripe. Stripe collects the information necessary to process the payment (e.g., email for receipt, card details). RantRam stores only the note text and its association with a rant — we do not store your payment card details or email address.

Analytics

We use Simple Analytics, a privacy-first analytics service that does not use cookies, does not track individual users, and does not collect personal data. No data is shared with third parties for advertising purposes.

Browser Storage

We use your browser's localStorage to remember which rants you posted (so you can see support received) and sessionStorage for temporary UI state. This data never leaves your device and we cannot access it.

2. Legal Basis (GDPR)

• Contract performance: Processing payment data is necessary to fulfill the Leave a Note service.
• Legitimate interest: IP-based rate limiting and spam prevention are necessary for platform operation and user safety.

3. Data Processors

• Stripe: Payment processing. Stripe's privacy policy is available at stripe.com/privacy.
• Supabase: Database hosting. Data is stored in secure, encrypted databases.
• Netlify: Website hosting.
• Simple Analytics: Privacy-first analytics — no personal data collected.

4. Data Retention

• Rants and confirmed notes are stored indefinitely unless deleted by a moderator.
• Pending notes (unpaid) are automatically purged after 1 hour.
• IP addresses used for rate limiting are not stored permanently.

5. Your Rights

Under GDPR, you have the right to:

• Access: Request a copy of any data we hold about you.
• Deletion: Request removal of your data.
• Portability: Request your data in a structured, machine-readable format.
• Objection: Object to processing based on legitimate interest.

6. No Behavioral Advertising

RantRam does not display behavioral ads. We do not sell, share, or trade your data with advertisers or data brokers.

7. Children

RantRam is not intended for children under 13. We do not knowingly collect data from children.

8. Changes to This Policy

We may update this privacy policy from time to time. Continued use of the service after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
