Here's my problem: I have not been searching online for employment for a while. Now I find myself in need of employment. So I hit the popular job search sites, looking for a suitable job that will cover my living expenses, and then some. All of a sudden, I'm hit with paywalls that require a subscription to be properly served. Meaning they are withholding services that were historically free and just part of the service unless you pay them a premium. "Get your resume out to 200 employers. Only $9.99 for the first month," or "Get seen by more recruiters, only $5.95/mo." Stuff like that. I go with the option of applying on the company site, but I know I have to sign up for an account just to fill out an application. That sign-up can be either with that company itself or, worse, with a third-party company with marketing affiliations, where your data is sold to these affiliates so they can call and market to you some B.S. extended car warranty you can't even pay for because you don't work.
