I’m so sick of this whole “you gotta let people do their own thing” mentality. Sure, I agree with it in principle, but that doesn’t mean you don’t express concern or disappointment or avoid hard conversations with them. I think my generation (millennials) and younger (maybe the older generation too) have developed this idea that the only people qualified to have hard conversations with people are licensed therapists, but that’s not true. There are things a licensed therapist can do that someone else can’t but they aren’t the only ones qualified to talk to people and tell them when they’re being ridiculous or that they were wrong or whatever.
