Addressing my medical trauma, part 1: Thanks to EMDR therapy I have finally come to terms with my medical trauma. It was hard to come to terms with it before when as soon as the memory came into my head I'd recoil and nope nope think of something else. Now I can actually talk about it somewhat. Which is great because the fact that people don't talk about this kind of stuff was what made it so traumatic, I honestly didn't realise how common these kinds of examinations and procedures were. It wasn't until I was 19 and I was on the coach back from a uni trip and my friends were talking about their experiences that I realised it wasn't a rare experience at all. I was 3 when it happened. I went 16 years thinking that what happened to me was something that most people would never have to experience. I felt ruined with shame since it happened, and it took 16 years to learn that it's not really anything to be ashamed of. Yet I still felt ruined
