we were the stars in heaven, we were the salt in tears. our chests are safety pinned together, i learned long ago to not crave the pain of moving away. the same room, 13 feet apart but breathing the same air. the world outside is still, the world that we own is even more still. though my airway has now closed, i am breathing through your lungs. for now, it's just this moment, the weight of everything we are, the weight of everything we aren't, and the space we've rejected for eachother in the silence left between us.
