I don’t talk to my dad, stepdad or any ex parental figure I’ve ever had because they never stayed around long enough for there to be a bond or I did not like them. I don’t have a grandpa or an uncle I trust either. I don’t have any male family to look up to or confide in at all and I usually don’t think about that. I had a teacher during my high school years I’d come to for advice and when I had been part of a club, and he’d always go out of his way for me and other students to encourage and give comfort to. He was respectful and supportive and became one of the first older male role models I trusted. When I tried to commit suicide I wrote him a letter and said I was grateful for everything he’s done and that he was the closest thing I had to a father figure. I didn’t want to die without letting him know he changed students lives positively. The day of graduation I was nervous of him seeing me, but he smiled and said how proud he was of me. thank you for everything
