my dad pointed a knife at me. sounds terrible right? I was in trouble and he was frustrated, and I spent so fucking long excusing it; I spent two years of my life justifying his behavior and having an existential crisis because I couldn't accept that having a reason for something doesn't make it acceptable. I though "he was just angry" was the excuse on why I shouldn't be mad about this, but its the fucking reason why I SHOULD. you are telling me that your anger is so uncontrollable that you decided to pull a knife out? really? the worst part is I wasn't even surprised by it; I wasn't surprised my father would pull a knife out on me even though he'd never done it before. and it's still so hard to GET. I can't explain the years of words and actions that would lead me to be unfazed by a knife. and I cant explain wanting to sabotage my opinion by saying "I just emphasize the knife incident because it justifies my opinion of him." but I just have to accept that most just wont understand...
