I’m 23 and I’m still trying to find my path in life. I thought about repairing pianos because I’m a pianist myself and a lot of gigs I play at are at Nursing Homes and the pianos need a lot of work. Anyway I finally found a piano repair place close to me, because there aren’t many around. The door was locked so I looked through the window and saw someone typing on their computer. I asked if they were open but they just stared at me weirdly. Eventually I backed up and this guy answered the door like “Can I help you?”. I mentioned how I’m a piano player interested in piano repair, and asked him various related questions, and he just looked at me up and down and said “Well you gotta be able to move pianos”. He then gave me short one worded answers to my questions to just rub me off and it left me felt really discouraged. I hate how I’m genuinely trying so hard to figure out my path, but nothing is working out for me no matter how hard I try to put myself out there.
