This has weighed on me for months and I need to be honest. I feel deeply taken advantage of. I’ve given hundreds of dollars to help them and their parent, even taking commissions and giving them money I could have used myself. I did it because I cared and trusted them. What hurts is that people have been waiting months for things they paid for, while commitments are repeatedly pushed back with “tomorrow,” “I’m stressed,” or “I just want to enjoy today.” I understand being overwhelmed and needing breaks, but repeatedly accepting money without following through is a pattern, and at this point, continuing to excuse it feels like enabling it. This is especially difficult because we’ve been friends for ten years. I don’t want resentment to replace the care and trust I’ve had for them. I don’t expect perfection. I expect honesty, communication, accountability, and genuine effort. Apologies and promises mean very little if nothing changes.
