My parents let my youngest brother (14 years old) have absolutely everything he wants. He develops an overnight obsession with a toy or an item, claims he's been thinking about it for a long time, and starts on his case. He recently spent nearly all his savings on a full-grain leather jacket, which my dad decided was an investment. Not a week after, he saw a Luke Skywalker figure on the internet, and suddenly he's absolutely obsessed with it. "it's not the best looking figure, but I want it" "someone in the reviews replaces his head with a better one, maybe I'll do that", until my parents, once again, caved. After this spend, for the umpteenth time, he has no savings whatsoever. He always promises to save up for something, but always blows it the second he develops a new obsession. I'm afraid that this habit, him asking for a toy, my parents initially saying no, him arguing, then them buying it for him will lead to harmful behaviors, even addiction in the future.
