My dad’s retiring after worked 3 decades as a teacher and his reward was a board made with AI Gemini. No artist or commission, not even just putting pictures and words together on Canvas or something. Just a printed little frame of AI generated achievements. Why? I understand using AI for little things but why spend it on things that should be valued? Imagine using AI to generate a birthday card, or generate an apology letter. We’re loosing our humanity. And mostly, I just feel bad for my father. I’m sure he doesn’t mind he’s not the type of person to get upset over these things, but it definitely feels like a slap to the face. Like he’s worthless. And not only did he work 3 decades as a teacher, he helped coach tech, sports, activities, teachers, he made plans, helped organize things physical and digital, so yes he’s well aware as to what AI is. I don’t have enough space to keep writing, but this genuinely boils my blood. Bring back our care of craft. Workers who slave away need love.
