Got mixed feelings about people with ADHD qualifying for a disabled person's railcard and getting cheaper train tickets. For a start I'm overjoyed, my 26-30 railcard is expiring soon and anything that saves me money is great - I have a low income due to my brain not working well enough for me to be good enough at jobs to actually get hired. Also I rely a lot on train travel because in my case, ADHD prevents me from driving safely. Could I physically drive? Possibly. Would the roads be safe if I were driving on them? Unlikely. My sense of direction is dreadful, my reaction times are slow, I struggle to multitask, and I get overwhelmed and impulsive and overcome with emotion. But damn train tickets are expensive without a railcard. But at the same time, it gives everyone else another reason to resent us. ADHD isn't just forgetting things sometimes. It takes me ages to do anything because I have to keep checking I haven't missed anything, and somehow I still manage to fuck it up.
