I don't like how I act when I'm around you. But you don't know any other version of me – I fell for you so cosmically, so instantaneously – the second I met you it felt like I'd been struck by lightning. I thought that getting it off my chest when we spoke, getting absolute confirmation that you didn't feel the same way, it was supposed to make the feeling go away but it didn't. And it's okay that you don't feel the same, I promise, but then I tried to pursue a closer friendship because I can't cut you out entirely, we have the same friends and we'll always be in eachother's lives and I thought it would make it easier if you weren't so distant. I'm not going to punish myself for trying to pursue that connection, but I can see now that I've been forcing a connection that just isn't there for you at all. I just wanted to pull back, try not to talk to you at these things so I don't turn into the needy, flirty person who won't get the hint to leave you alone. That isn't me.
