I don’t really do this but a friend suggested it since I don’t like talking about stuff. I was the captain of my volleyball back in high school which was last year. Our school has a tradition of ex captains returning to give tips. Mind you I got my team last year to nationals twice while I was captain since junior year. I’m undersized as a spiker (5’10 compared to 6’3) and I always got ridiculed for it but that’s not what bothers me. Captain who got their team to nationals got a plaque in the sports hall. Other plaque have cool titles while mine says “He who almost made it”…what a big fuckin slap in my face. I tried harder than any captain before me, putting up stats that double theirs and all I am is a has been to them. Washed up. I’d rather not have a plaque than be a what if. Thanks for reading this.
