I am actually convinced that my musical director hates me. I am a senior in High School and have been in multiple speaking roles over the years as well as being in some lead roles. but half way through my sophomore year we got a new musical director and it was whatever at first but then she really started favoring kids like casting the same 5 people as the leads and it is genuinely so frustrating because the girl she keeps casting as the lead NEVER shows up to vocal rehearsals and is SO MEAN to everyone in cast but our director has called her "a literal princess" we have been doing like fairy tale productions for the last like 2-3 years too and it feels like everything is precast and that our director will put literal seniors who can easily out preform some of these people as ensemble and have like people who don't show up as leads. despite my love for theater I genuinely don't think I want to carry on with it in high school because of this. I hate the treatment that I've received.
