I know what I have done. I know I've killed men and boys. I know that it was called war but I didn't have to kill them. Didn't have to torture them. I learned an acquired taste to enjoy it. I thought that was what made me powerful. The ruin and horror. What makes a man powerful is to gain ability then become greater than temptation through restraint. I can kill men but what makes me powerful is breaking their bones, shooting them non-lethally and leaving them to survive. My power is in my restraint and mercy when I can use it. My power is in realizing that there is still a life that can be spared in the bodes of those I could kill. It took me a long time to realize and I'm still not always stronger than my lust for destruction against those I dislike but I am strong enough now that I can, and have, held back from killing & causing more damage than was necessary. Almost anyone can pull a trigger but it takes the development of restraint to hold back when it's not necessary.
