Growing up I was a sensitive person. I could cry easily over music, movies, animals, stories, etc. I could place myself in other people's shoes easily and relate to their stories. Then my sensitivity became a burden on everyone around me. At least, that's how they made me feel. I lost friendships because they 'didn't want to deal with me'. My family minimized my feelings and told me I was overreacting. Now I can't cry even if I wanted to. Sometimes I genuinely need to let it out and I can't. Even when something traumatic happens I may shed a tear or two, and then it just stops. Like something turns off and I can't let it out until I'm basically at my breaking point. I miss my sensitivity. I feel like I lost a part of myself as a child and its only in my adulthood that I understand that sensitivity isn't a bad thing. But, I don't feel. It's like I'm pretending to be a person.
