The initial purchase was smooth — it took about an hour — and I was happy with my first family car. It was a 2017 Chevy Equinox; I got it on 04/17/2023. However, a year later, after the warranty expired and the car started not working properly, I changed the battery and replaced the solenoid, and it started working again. Now, with $13,000 remaining, I am stuck with a vehicle that doesn’t run again. I even contacted the insurance, and they refused to cover me, claiming the car has dirt, despite it sitting idle for months. The mechanic recommended by CarMax initially said the car was clean, but then CarMax claimed the mechanic said it was dirty and had sledge. Who am I supposed to believe? Was I just recommended a mechanic to get me to pay over $7,000 out of pocket? We have maintained the vehicle meticulously — my husband doesn’t even let the gas fall below half a tank. I'm not even looking for anything fancy; I just want a car to fit my family. I feel so bad
