i wish more people would realize gender perception still matters wrt your upbringing. my sister and i being trans doesn't change that i was seen as less valuable than her by our parents because who cares about the eldest daughter when the firstborn son is the one to carry on a legacy my sister didn't get sexually assaulted by our father because he thought of her as male at the time. i did. our uncle too! and i was told to keep it secret because "boys need their dad". my sister was never told by our grandma that if she didn't shape up she'd need to be married off to a cousin who'd take financial responsibility for her. i did. even now our mom cleans my sister's house so she doesn't lose custody of her kid because my sister was never taught to fucking clean up after herself and our mom says it's because that's just how "men" are. that women need to clean up after them. it's bullshit. all of it. not blaming my sister for any of that (though i have beef on other grounds). it's just bs.
