I hope, before my time runs out, I find someone who loves me. Not for what I've accomplished or what I have to offer, but simply because I'm me. I spent so much of my life wishing I looked like someone else. My frizzy hair, chubby cheeks, imperfect outfits, the way I walked and talked. I noticed everything. I watched the girls at school and wondered what it felt like to look in the mirror and not wish to change something. I tried. I changed the way I dressed, spoke, and carried myself. But no matter how much I changed, I never seemed to become the girl I wanted to be. I wasn't girly enough. I know I'll never look like those girls. I'll never quite speak or walk like them either. And perhaps those things shouldn't matter, but they did to me. I hope somebody loved me anyway. I hope somebody saw past everything I spent my life hating about myself and found something worth loving. Because I don't think I ever did. And I wish I had more time to learn how.
