The world always pressures people into having kids. It always says the having kids is the end all be all for everyone, especially women. Here’s the thing for me: I would’ve loved to have kids and be a mom, but the world has shown me that it does not deserve any children at all. I feel like most people, mainly men, do not understand the pain, effort, and sacrifice it takes to deal with pregnancy and childbirth and actually raising children. Why is it that mothers automatically become the default caregiver? Why can’t the child’s father step in from time to time? Not to mention this world is incredibly unsafe. We have school shootings, wars around the world, rapists and pedophiles. If God forbid something happens to my child and they get seriously hurt, how could I explain to them that I brought them into the world fully aware that it wasn’t safe for them to begin with? I feel like I would’ve been an excellent mom, but I know that my kids are safer if they are not here.
