My whole life, my parents have called me talented. That seems like it should be a good thing, but it's not. All my life's hard work and achievements have been reduced to: "You were born with it". Anytime my name would pop up while talking about work, it was always about me working harder. They chose the clubs I went to, what I would excel at when I was younger, what sports I would do, how I would talk, eat, sleep, dress, use my phone, the friends I could make, how much time I should spend for stuff, how I dressed, who I was, what I wanted to do, and then asked for more. I wasn't born good at math. But, my parents sent me to AOPS, to struggle for 4 years before I excelled at it. I struggled reading books for years before finally understanding how to understand texts. I found a love for my country again. I have ADHD symptoms, and my parents don't know. I taught myself to sit still for hours on end through books. All of that has been reduced to, you were born with it.
