I just got confessed to by someone I have feelings for, but turned her down because I’m not ready to be in a relationship. Said she had something she wanted to say and we walked together to my car as I left work. Then she told me. Maybe it was because I’m sick. Maybe because it was sudden. But I stumbled through my answer saying I wasn’t ready to be in a relationship. And, to my horror, I gave her a high five; which honestly, probably top 3 worst things I’ve done ever. God. It’s not that I got hurt in a past relationship. I actually haven’t been with anyone in the first place (I’m in my early twenties and not a kid btw. I just never talked to anyone in my school years and became a bit socially awkward). Mainly, it boils down to the fact that I don't like myself very much, which bleeds into not being able to fathom how someone else could, especially in that way. It wouldn’t be fair to start something when I would be constantly questioning whether she was genuine in her affection.
