I spent years of my life climbing to the summit with my hands dirty with soil, blood, and expectations. I don't remember when I started, I don't remember why or for whom I started, but it would be an insult not to fulfill it. I reached the top and was met with a gray rainbow, perhaps because that's its nature, or perhaps my eyes aren't made to see its vibrant colors. Would I be a mistake in that place? I can't appreciate its main quality, the rainbow, other people would kill for this view, people who could see its colors. I looked down and didn't see the summit I climbed, I saw a cliff. If I jumped, maybe I'd get another opportunity in a place I'd value, or maybe I'll just climb into another disappointment. Looking at the precipice, I realized that perhaps the view isn't so bad after all. Even if it's straying from my desires, I learned to enjoy discomfort. —Mv
