The genocide in Gaza is clear evidence that empathy is not indicative to the American psyche. I have never seen a more pathetic attempt by those most AND least powerful to deny what is in front of them. They simply conflate it to an inevitable casualty of war or make it a case of whether they [Palestinians] “deserved” it or not. “Do you condemn October 7th!?” Who doesn’t? Does Oct 7th justify all of this death and destruction? Israel has destroyed Hospitals, Schools, Museums, GRAVEYARDS and even damaged a UNESCO World Heritage Site. This isn’t the 20th century. Our attacks can be as precise as we need them to be. The indiscriminately targeted attacks on Palestinians is fully intentional. And us, the privileged and crass Americans even refuse to see the Palestinians as people who deserve to eat, drink, study, work, or live. We will never suffer the consequences for our ignorance, nor our indifference. And when this war is over, we will deny everything. Like the pathetic lot we are.
