Call me the wokeler, but as I scrolled through the seemingly endless stream of Halloween posts on my feed, I found myself increasingly unsettled by some of the costumes I came across. Take, for instance, the classic couples costume: a hunter and a deer. Something about it feels deeply uncomfortable. A man cast as the predator; a girl reduced to the prey. Of course, I recognise that Halloween is hardly the occasion on which most people gather to contemplate the sociopolitical implications of their costume choices. It just makes me uncomfortable lol.
