3 years ago today I woke to news of a mass tragedy where my family lived and no way to contact them. I saw videos of people who looked and sounded like me going through the worst things you can fathom. I've lived through the most tragic circumstances one can imagine and forever held my stance that none of us will heal until we find peace. And every day for last 3 years, because I live in the U.S. 5,000 miles from my family, I have been told I deserve it, I have been told I'm next, and I have been called every name (none limited to K*ke) by people who couldn't fathom the text messages I was desperately sending on October 7th 2023. And a year later I'd try to take my life from it all. I'm not better. Believe whatever you want or need to, all I've ever wanted was safety and peace. Please let Jews have a space to mourn today. I don't know how much longer I can do this.
