my first job starts at the end of the month and i'm already dreading it. it's a full time job, in a workhouse, 9 hour shift, mandatory overtime/weekends/most holidays, 45 hour workweek (most likely). all that for $18/hr. i can't even say no because i need this job for health insurance, since i got kicked off my parents' insurance for turning 26. i dont want to have to work for the rest of my life. how am i supposed to live my own life when all i'll do is work?? my only friends are online, and with my job hours, it'll be impossible to hang out. even now we struggle to find time. why is the system like this?? i dont want to be exploited for 50+ years as a cog in the machine that is society. why is this considered normal??? at the end of the day we are still animals; we need down time. hell, we are capable of it. money shouldn't matter this much. it's all so messed up, even more so because i know nothing will change until the day our species dies out. i hate it here so much
